A grinder is the upgrade that makes the biggest difference to a customer’s coffee at home, and it’s the one they’re most likely to ask your baristas about. There’s a commercial upside too: customers who grind at home buy whole beans, and they buy them from you.
Wilfa has discontinued the Svart and the original Uniform after more than ten years. The Zense replaces the Svart for everyday brewers, and the Uniform Evo replaces the Uniform for enthusiasts. If you’ve sold Svart grinders in the past, the Zense is the model to offer those customers now. Wilfa UK’s announcement has the full detail.

The Hario Mini Mill PLUS is small enough for a bag, and the Skerton N is the step up for home pour-over. Hario’s ceramic burrs don’t rust, and the Skerton N’s bearing keeps the shaft steady for a more even grind. As a starting point from fully closed, Hario suggests roughly 10–12 clicks for pour-over and 15 or more for French press. The Skerton N + Drip Kettle AIR bundle makes a ready-made gift. For customers, Hario UK has a Skerton N guide and a guide to its whole grinder range.
New for 2026, the Hario PRO Coffee SS moves Hario’s hand grinders onto stainless-steel ghost-tooth burrs, which crush beans rather than shave them for rounder, more even particles. It has 90 settings, a bearing-stabilised shaft, an aluminium body, a walnut handle knob and a 24 g hopper — enough for a two-cup V60. It sits between the Skerton N and the Comandante on price, so it fills a gap on the shelf.
The Wilfa Zense has 40 mm flat stainless-steel burrs, 30 settings, an anti-static system and an auto-stop sensor. It’s also available in an Alux finish and in bundles with the Zense coffee maker.
The Wilfa Uniform Evo has 64 mm flat burrs, 41 grind steps with micro-adjustment and a 0.1 g scale built into the lid, and it grinds straight into a portafilter. Customers with a Sage machine usually want the matching Sage Smart Grinder Pro, also in Black Truffle.
The Comandante C40 MK4 is the hand grinder baristas and competitors reach for. We cover it in detail in Is the Comandante C40 worth it?
Wilfa designs its grinders for the home. Wilfa’s five-year warranty covers products bought and used in private households and is void in commercial use, so we recommend them as retail products rather than bar equipment. Read Wilfa’s warranty terms.

Which Wilfa grinder replaces the Svart?
The Wilfa Zense replaces the Svart. It has 40 mm flat stainless-steel burrs, 30 grind settings, an anti-static system and an auto-stop sensor, and it comes in black or an Alux finish. Wilfa positions it as the natural upgrade for existing Svart owners.
Which Wilfa grinder replaces the Uniform?
The Wilfa Uniform Evo replaces the original Uniform. It has 64 mm flat stainless-steel burrs, 41 grind steps with micro-adjustment, a built-in 0.1 g scale and the ability to grind directly into a portafilter.
Is a hand grinder or an electric grinder better?
Both give fresher, better-tasting coffee than pre-ground. Hand grinders are quiet, portable and offer excellent grind quality for the money. Electric grinders are faster and more convenient for anyone brewing several cups a day or making espresso.
Can I use a Wilfa grinder in my café?
Wilfa’s five-year warranty applies only to products bought and used in private households, and it’s void in commercial use. We recommend Wilfa grinders as retail products for your customers’ homes rather than as bar equipment.
Which grinder is best for espresso at home?
The Wilfa Uniform Evo suits enthusiasts, with 41 steps plus micro-adjustment and a built-in scale. Sage espresso owners often choose the Sage Smart Grinder Pro. For hand grinding, a Comandante C40 with the RX35 Red Clix upgrade gives finer control.
