Wilfa products bought from 1 September 2020 carry a five-year warranty, and the proof of purchase is the guarantee. It covers home use only and excludes damage caused by scale, so tell every customer to descale at least every three months — more often in hard-water areas — and point them to spares before they replace a machine.
Most Wilfa aftersales questions come down to three things: the warranty, descaling and parts. If your team can answer those at the till, customers stay happy and come back for descaler. Brewed By Hand is Wilfa’s exclusive UK distributor, and this is what we’d tell a customer.

Scale is the most common reason a Wilfa brewer slows down, runs cool or stops, and damage caused by scale isn’t covered by the warranty. Wilfa recommends descaling at least every three months, and more often in hard-water areas. That makes descaler the most natural repeat sale in the Wilfa range.

Question |
Answer |
|
“Why does the hotplate switch off?” |
EU energy rules require warming plates to switch off automatically; Wilfa brewers switch off after 40 minutes. A thermal-jug brewer keeps coffee hot without one. |
|
“How much coffee should I use?” |
Wilfa recommends 60 g per litre — 75 g for a full 1.25 L jug. |
|
“What temperature does it brew at?” |
Wilfa’s ECBC-approved brewers brew at 92–96°C. |
|
“Can I use it in my café or office?” |
Wilfa’s warranty is void in commercial use. For commercial service, use commercial equipment. |
|
“My Svart or Uniform grinder is discontinued — what now?” |
The Zense replaces the Svart and the Uniform Evo replaces the Uniform. See our grinder guide. |
A replacement part is often all a customer needs. These are listed on the trade site:
If a part isn’t listed, ask your account manager. Customers can find their model’s manual on Wilfa UK’s product manuals page.
No — and it’s worth being clear with customers who ask. Wilfa designs its brewers and grinders for home kitchens, and the warranty is void in commercial use. Stock Wilfa as a retail product and as the brewer you recommend to customers who love your filter coffee. See our guide to filter coffee makers to stock.
How long is the Wilfa warranty?
Wilfa products bought from 1 September 2020 have a five-year warranty from the date of purchase. No registration is needed; the proof of purchase is the guarantee. Some older products have shorter terms.
Does the Wilfa warranty cover commercial use?
No. The Wilfa warranty applies only to products bought and used in private households, and it is void in commercial use. For cafés, offices and other businesses, use commercial brewing equipment instead.
How often should you descale a Wilfa coffee maker?
Wilfa recommends descaling at least every three months, and more often in hard-water areas. Damage caused by scale build-up isn’t covered by the warranty, so regular descaling protects the machine.
Why does my Wilfa coffee maker switch off after 40 minutes?
EU energy rules require coffee makers with a warming plate to switch it off automatically. Wilfa brewers do so after 40 minutes. A brewer with a thermal jug keeps coffee hot without a hotplate.
How do I make a Wilfa warranty claim as a retailer?
Check the customer’s proof of purchase and the fault against the exclusions, then submit the claim through the Wilfa warranty submission form on the Brewed By Hand trade site or email warranties@brewedbyhand.com.
