Hario first released the V60 in 2005, and it’s still the dripper most speciality cafés reach for — Hario notes it has been used to win 6 out of 10 World Brewers Cup Championships. Since then Hario has built a family around it, each dripper solving a different problem. As Hario’s exclusive UK distributor, we’re asked which ones to stock more than almost anything else. This is our answer.

The classic V60 comes in plastic, glass, ceramic and metal. Material changes how much heat the dripper holds, so baristas have favourites — 2022 UK Brewers Cup Champion Sierra Yeo used the metal V60 in matte black. For retail, the plastic Hario x Project Waterfall V60 is a durable entry point, and every sale supports clean-water projects.
The V60 NEO keeps the V60 shape but uses an ultra-thin Tritan resin body and a refined rib structure. It comes in sizes 01 and 02, in amber, transparent and black, and it sits on the Switch base for steep-and-release recipes. Hario UK explains the thinking in Why this plastic brewer deserves serious attention.
The Switch has a ball-bearing valve in its base. Closed, it holds water in the cone so the coffee steeps. Open, it drains through a standard V60 paper. Hario’s starting recipe is 15 g of medium-ground coffee to 250 g of water at 92°C, steeped for two minutes and then released — about three minutes in total. It’s the most forgiving way to serve pour-over on a busy bar. See Hario’s Switch guide.
The Mugen is designed so you pour all the water in one go and let the dripper control the flow. UK Brewers Cup finalist Jo Lopez chose it for competition because, in his words, “whatever water you put in the brewer will go through the coffee and nowhere else.” Stock the Mugen x Switch or the ceramic Mugen. Read Jo’s interview.
Hario developed the W60 with 2013 World Barista Champion Pete Licata. It’s a hybrid of flat-bottom and conical brewing that can be used three ways. The V60 Drip-Assist Set sits on top of a dripper and spreads water evenly over the coffee bed, which makes brews more consistent — useful when several people share one bar.

V60 Suiren, also Black & White |
Suiren is Japanese for water lily. Twelve clip-in ribs recreate the V60’s spiral; the dripper comes apart to fit a pocket or bag, and it takes standard V60 02 papers. Hario UK has the full story in The V60 Suiren: a dripper you assemble yourself. |

A clear V60 in Tritan: BPA-free, heat-resistant and far less likely to crack than glass or standard resin — a strong bar dripper |

The Pegasus has two drain holes, which slow and steady the flow, so an uneven pour matters less than in a single-hole cone. It comes in size 01 (one to two cups), 02 (one to four) and 03 (three to six), and uses Pegasus papers rather than V60 cones. It’s the dripper to recommend to nervous beginners. Hario UK’s Pegasus guide has more.

Every dripper sale is a paper sale for years. V60, NEO, Switch and Mugen all take V60 cone papers in the matching size; the Pegasus takes its own Pegasus papers, in white or brown. Our filter papers guide sets out what fits what.
Hario’s classic V60 recipe is 15 g of medium-ground coffee to 250 g of water at 92–94°C. Rinse the paper, bloom the coffee for 30–45 seconds, then pour steadily. Point customers to Hario UK’s V60 brew guide and six tips for better pour-over.

What’s the difference between the V60 and the V60 NEO?
The V60 NEO keeps the classic V60 cone shape but uses a thin Tritan resin body and a refined rib structure. It comes in sizes 01 and 02, in amber, transparent and black, and it’s compatible with the Hario Switch base.
How does the Hario Switch work?
The Switch has a ball-bearing valve in its base. When closed it holds water so the coffee steeps; when opened it drains through a V60 paper. Hario suggests 15 g of coffee to 250 g of water at 92°C, steeped for two minutes.
What is the Hario Mugen dripper?
The Mugen is a V60-style dripper designed for a single pour. You add all the water at once and the dripper controls the flow, which makes it quick and repeatable on a busy bar.
Do Pegasus drippers use V60 filter papers?
No. The Pegasus is a trapezoid dripper and takes Hario Pegasus papers in the matching size — 01, 02 or 03 — available in white or brown. V60, NEO, Switch and Mugen drippers use V60 cone papers.
Which V60 size should I choose?
Size 01 brews one to two cups and size 02 brews one to four. Most cafés use size 02 on the bar because it handles single cups and small batches.
What papers does the Hario Suiren use?
The Suiren takes standard Hario V60 02 cone papers, so customers don’t need a new consumable. It comes apart into a base ring and clip-in ribs, which makes it easy to pack for travel.
